New Site to Help Eliminate New Jersey's Nursing Shortage

May 28, 2009

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Foundation recently launched the New Jersey Nursing Initiative to help avert a severe nursing shortage that could significantly reduce patient care in the state.

Launched at a hearing before the New Jersey Senate's Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee, the $22 million, five-year initiative will increase the number of nurse faculty in the state, ensure sufficient faculty for educating the next generation of nurses.

To share information on the initiative and the state of nursing in New Jersey, the Foundation developed a new site at www.NJNI.org. The site includes Nursing Facts for all 21 counties in New Jersey, Faculty Voices of selected nursing faculty, and details on the initiative's Faculty Preparation Program.

The site also provides a private extranet for NJNI staff and its National Advisory Committee to share documents and track tasks powered by Forum One's ProjectSpaces.

Forum One developed the site for the Foundation, working with NJNI and PR Solutions staff to plan and create an elegant creative design and information architecture. Forum One developed and deployed the site on the Drupal open source content management system.
